Independence Day plus some
The independence we have in this country is something many of take for granted, but shouldn’t. While that independence isn’t what it used to be, we are still more free than many other countries, and for that our family is thankful. We are thankful that we can still share the Gospel without getting arrested. We are thankful for the troops who are keeping us safe. We are thankful to God for placing us where He has.
We had a beautiful day (with one storm) on the 4th of July for our crowd of 70+ people!

With new friends from church.

We had a major cookout with lots and lots of food. It was sunny and HOT for the first little bit, then we came inside because of a thunderstorm. When that passed, we went back outside to play sports and swim. Then when it looked like it was going to storm again, we brought all the food inside and ate in there. It ended up not raining, so we ate dessert outside and kept playing sports and swimming.

Everyone had so much fun fellowshipping, swimming, and playing.

The buffet. There was SO much good food.

We played some intense games of Ultimate Frisbee, soccer, volleyball, and basketball.

Our sweet friend Lana came over the other day and made us a Vietnamese lunch. We filled a (clear) rice tortilla-type wrap with beef, eggs, apples, pears, blueberries, hot sauce, peanut butter, rice, and other stuff you wouldn’t think would go together. It was strange, because you could see through the rice tortilla. We all liked it though!

Christopher had some friends over to swim the other day. They had fun catching up with each other, swimming, and playing soccer. I’m glad Christopher has friends like these.

We *finally* celebrated Father’s Day last week. We had home-made cheesecake and gave Dad his gifts…the big gift being a grill. So thankful for Dad and everything he does for our family. Grateful for his wonderful sense of humor, too. He always keeps us laughing.

Love you, Dad!

We’ve had lots going on here. Since Independence Day, we’ve started another week of 5 Day Clubs, had people over for more sports, had a tree hit by lightning, and more. Life keeps on rolling!

I can agree that life keeps on rolling!
Do you know how you decide where to find the kids and have the clubs. The last couple of clubs we’ve done we’ve ended up with only maybe 5 kids average each day. We canvas the area a ton with fliers but no one shows up! We also have a big problem with leaders not being responsible and being ready right when one thing is done going into the next. Do you have any words of advice? It’s not like we haven’t talked to them about it. I have tons more questions but can’t think of them at the moment. If you have any words of advice I’d love to hear any input you have!
That Vietnamese lunch looks so interesting. Seems like someone came up with it from having odds and ends left in their fridge and decided to put it all together
CEF in my area has only started in the last 4? years or less so everyone is trying to figure things out. This is the first summer and hopefully there will be many more, of doing 5 day clubs in the area. I know your CEF has been doing it for many years. I’ve got lots of questions on how you do things. I don’t know if you’re in leadership enough to know the answers but I’ll ask anyway
